Moon Gates

A traditional Moon Gate is a circular opening in a garden wall that acts as a pedestrian passageway and is a traditional architectural element in Chinese gardens. The purpose of these gates was to serve as a very inviting entrance into gardens of the rich upper class in China.

My Moon Gates are made to order from either stainless steel or Corten steel, which over time will develop a protective, rust-like, coating which prevents further corrosion. They can be made in a range of sizes, from a small 600mm diameter gate as a unique feature in a lawn or plant bed, through to a 2m diameter gate giving a striking framing feature to garden. They are individually hand built in my workshop in the Peak District.
